The government on Friday announced another list of 30 cites for development as smart cities under Smart City Mission.
Our own city Patna Muzaffarpur are selected under the new list of 30 cities for development under Smart City Mission. Kerala capital Thiruvanathapuram topped the list while Chhattisgarh’s new capital Naya Raipur came second.
There may be some questions coming to mind, like What is a Smart City and What is Smart City Mission? To make this clear lets first talk about a smart city, A smart city is developed urban area that creates sustainable economic development and high quality of life by excelling in multiple key areas like economy, mobility, environment, people, living, and government. And a Smart City Mission works in developing the infrastructure and quality of life of the people living in that city. “100 Smart Cities Mission” was launched by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the year 2015.
2017 marks the second year of the launch of Smart City Mission. The ministry of Urban Development is responsible for the Smart City Mission. The Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu announced the list of 30 cities under this scheme. The cities selected under this scheme are:
Of the selected cities, 26 had proposed affordable housing projects, another 26 had proposed new schools and hospitals and 29 had proposed redesign and development of roads.
