The person who made the world laugh by his humorous poems has now been surrounded by unhappiness all around. Asrar Jamayee born on 21st July, 1937 in Patna, Bihar is now wandering door to door to prove that he is still alive and a little life that is left, he is strong enough to fight his own battle.

He was encouraged by Dr.Zakir Hussain and started his journey thereafter by reciting his poetry in public gatherings. This gave him name and fame in the country and now he lives in a 2 bedroom apartment surrounded by loneliness and his only love Urdu books. He has devoted his life to Urdu and has published 4 books of poetry and booklets on Indian history. He has many awards to his name, one of which is received by the President Dr.Rajendra Prasad.

His plight started when his father died which led to family problems, property disputes and death of his mother which is why he is still unmarried. His dreams were big and the road to his success was not easy. He fought with his parents to follow his dreams and to earn a livelihood but now he is barred from getting his own pension of Rs.1500 as he is not alive according to the government records.  It all started in 2013 when he was declared dead by the Social Welfare Department of South Delhi. Until recently, he was invited in Mushairas but now the invitations are few as he is considered weak to travel. All his efforts went in vain as he was unable to convince the government officials about him being alive that made him lose all his hopes.

Now as he is taking rounds on the internet, People and Government are becoming aware of this man’s journey but yet there is no response from the side of the officials. Why is the Government still waiting for a proof of his existence?  It seems when Asrar Jamayee will close his eyes, the government will open its eyes!
