What is the impact of using plastic? & HOW TO REDUCE?

The ban on single-use of plastic has not come into effect all over India. From the 1st of July 2022, the government declared a complete ban on the single use of plastic. Earlier domestic beverage companies like Parle, Britannia, Coca-Cola, Amul, etc are not ready to follow government orders. The reason is that plastics are supposed to be cheaper than paper. Importing these sustainable products is expensive. But the problem with plastics is their nature of single use.

Banning plastic bags will create a big impact on our society in many ways like cleanliness, food items will become costly after packing the edibles with paper, small businesses find it difficult, and providing paper bags or clothing bags is considered high-budget. Another disturbing issue is street animals are supposed to swallow plastics they consider plastics edible food.

From 1st July 2022, 19 plastic items are banned strictly across India for eg, plastics sticks of earbuds, candy, ice creams, plastic flags, gift wrapping items, thermocol, etc. those who disobey the rules of using plastics will be charged as violating of Environmental and protection act 1986 and will face imprisonment of 1 year to 5 or a fine up to 1 lakh or both.
