Delightful news coming all the way from Los Angeles is that Vidya Balan's short film on rape culture has entered the Oscars 2021 race.

Produced by Ronnie Screwvala & Vidya Balan and directed by Shaan Vyas, Natkhat is a 33-minute short film that showcases a mother-son relationship and how it is nurtured in a patriarchal home. The makers took to Twitter announce the good news. "We made #Natkhat to reach every corner of the earth and tell the world that change begins at home. Elated to be in the race for the Oscars 2021 short film category!" tweeted RSVP films.

The short film has screened at prestigious international (virtual) film festivals like Tribeca’s We Are One: A Global Film Festival, Indian Film Festival Stuttgart (Where it won the German Star of India Award), London Indian Film Festival in London and Birmingham, the South Asian Film Festival - Orlando/Florida Film Festival, and the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. According to a press release, it was at the Best of India Short Film Festival that Natkhat was announced as the Winner and eligible for Oscar 2021 qualification.

Natkhat has joined the Oscars race with other Indian short films such as Shameless, Saving Chintu, and Tailing Pond.

We hope there's a win for India this year!
