Mohammed Zubair, AltNews co-founder, arrested for allegedly commenting and hurting religious sentiments

On Monday, New Delhi police arrested Zubair on a charge of hurting and promoting enmity on religious grounds and deliberately impairing religious feelings. On 19th June Zubair tweeted a picture of a hotel named Honeymoon and in his tweet, it's clearly seen he is linking our god Hanuman Ji with honeymoon as a direct insult to Hindus because he is brahmachari.

In the tweet, Mohammed Zubair, the co-founder of fact-check site Alt News, shared a clip from legendary filmmaker Hrishikesh Mukherjee's 1983 classic Kissi Se Na Kehna.

The case was registered at the Special Cell police station under sections 153 A (promoting enmity between different religious communities) and 295 A. Deliberate and intended malicious acts, to outrage the reli­gious feelings of Hindus by insulting their religion or reli­gious beliefs. The whole case came to the discussion when the complaint of a Twitter user with the profile name “Hanuman Bhakt” and handle @balajikijaiin.

In the March 24, 2018 tweet, Zubair had said “Before 2014: Honeymoon Hotel. After 2014: Hanuman Hotel” and attached the image of a hotel signboard where the name of the establishment was ostensibly changed.
