Union Public Service Commission's examination is regarded among the toughest exams in the world. Every year thousands of students appear in the exams whereas only a handful of them are able to make it to the final list of selected ones.  The hardships behind the preparation and the overall of a journey of an aspirant is no less than a saga of a warrior. This year, in 2022 when the results of UPSC broke out, the IIMC family cheered in joy. An Alumni, a student of English journalism batch 2018-19 batch, Samyak Jain bagged All India Rank - 7 to become an IAS officer. Samyak's journey had surplus struggles as he is visually impaired but no amount of hurdles hindered his path to paramount. He persevered them all. He thanks his time at IIMC for this achievement. He says "IIMC definitely helped me in huge ways. The editing and news writing classes helped me in becoming more articulate. It will not be an exaggeration if I say that the lessons I learned at IIMC helped me crack my UPSC mains exam. Also the faculty of IIMC, Especially Surbhi ma'am, and her constant support. Be it in studies or career guidance. In addition, in my short stint of working on the ground as a journalist, I understood India from the grassroots."

Even during the time of the pandemic when the whole world is locked down and depression and bio bubble's anxiety clenched us all, Samyak never lost his calmness. At the same time, he began preparing for UPSC in 2020. He states "When Covid-19 overtook the entire planet and lockdown was imposed. With nothing better to do at the time, I decided to begin my UPSC preparations. I gathered material online, took individual mentoring classes virtually, and invested my major hours studying the UPSC syllabus." He further adds "I believe it was a difficult time for us all because we were unable to meet up with pals. Your exhaustion disappears when you hang out with pals, and you can relax, which is essential for studying. However, I benefited much because I had nowhere else to go. Online classes proved to be really beneficial to me. During that time, my laptop and I were always together." His second try was a success. In the year 2020, he attempted the exam for the first time and failed. But, because he has a never-say-die attitude, he reapplied for the UPSC exam in 2021. His perseverance paid off this time, and he finished in seventh place. Samyak Jain's electives were Political Science and International Relations.

In a question about what role social media plays in an aspirant's life, He says "I believe that we should utilise social media in moderation in our daily lives, neither too little nor too much. If you don't use it enough, you'll be missing out on something. However, if you use it frequently, you may experience negative side effects. As a result, a balanced and adult approach to social media is required. It's also a responsibility for all of us, as well as social media itself, to ensure that there is appropriate and mature content on the platform." Samyak, an IIMCian and JNUian, believes that the country has a huge need for policymaking and execution, and if given the chance in the future, he will attempt to help. He further says "I want to work in the field of education, I'm particularly interested in girls' education and also wish to work for the empowerment of women in the country." On a lighter note, he shared that the lines of Dushyant Kumar motivated him a lot that goes by "Kon Kehta Hain Aasman Mein Surakh Ho Nahin Sakta, Ek Patthar To Tabiyat Se Uchalo Yaaron!."
