Bollywood couple Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor swept the Dadasaheb Phalke International film festival awards 2023, held at a five-star hotel in Mumbai on Monday.

Alia won the best actress award for portraying the iconic character Gangubai in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, while Ranbir was named the best actor for ‘Brahmastra’. Ranbir was not present at the occasion. Alia received the award on his behalf. presumably, because he's currently promoting his upcoming film with Shraddha Kapoor, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. The award comprises a Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) medallion, a shawl, and a cash prize of 1,000,000. If anyone needed proof that the two are the ultimate powerhouses of talent, this is it! However,  netizens showed disappointment with Ranbir Kapoor winning Best Actor at Dadasaheb Phalke Awards 2023: What a joke! Reacting to the clip, an Instagram user wrote, "I am a huge Ranbir fan but this is a joke. He was wooden in Brahmastra. Probably one of his weaker performances." Actress Kangana Ranaut objected to the same on her social media. She posted her own list of “deserving” winners and claimed that the ‘nepo mafia’ snatches everyone’s rights. Kangana took to Instagram Stories and shared her list of winners.
