Acharya Vinoba Bhawe was a renowned freedom fighter and a spiritual teacher of our Country. He is best known as the founder of the ‘Bhoodan Movement’ (Gift of the Land). The reformer is also known for having an intense concern for the deprived masses. Now talking about his early life, Vinoba Bhawe was born at Gagode in Kolaba district, Maharashtra on 11 September, 1895. His original name was Vinayak Narahari Bhawe.

Bhoodan Movement (land gift movement) :- It was a voluntary land reform movement in India. It was initiated by Acharya Vinoba Bhawe in 1951 at Pochampally village, which is now in Telangana, and known as Bhoodan Pochampally.After the independence of india when gandhi’s idea started to fade from people’s memory, vinoba started his “bhoodan” movement. And in a period of twenty years, he travelled all across india by foot. Persuading landlords to give their land to poor people and he successfully distributed a lot of land among poor people.
