The movie earned a box office collection of Rs 125 Crores and as per the news but the filmmakers did not share 10% of the box-office collection with the Neerja Bhanot Trust.
Recently we saw the makers of Neerja had received a lot of praises and accolades, the latest one being their National Award win at the 64th National Film Awards. Sadly, the makers will now be receiving a court notice from the family members of Neerja Bhanot, the brave heart who lost her life while saving passengers of a hijacked aeroplane.
The Bhanot family was said to be very cooperative with the filmmakers throughout the making of the family and was ultimately very happy with the performance of Sonam Kapoor. Sonam Kapoor winning the National Award at the 64th National Film Awards was like a feather added to the cap of success of the movie. But now the makers of the movie are hitting the news headlines for a wrong reason.
The major dispute of the Bhanot family is that the makers promised to share 10% of the total box office collection with the Neerja Bhanot Trust. But after the immense success of the movie the makers did not honour the commitment. According to the Sources, it is said that the family is moving to the Punjab and Haryana High Court in this regard and a legal notice has already been served on the makers of “Neerja”.
“I will not comment on this issue at this stage. All I can tell you is that we will not tolerate injustice,” said Aneesh Bhanot, the brother of the braveheart.
Even though there is no confirmation on this allegation from the filmmaker’s camp, it doesn’t look like the family is going to take this lying down. After all its glory, the team of Neerja might have a real task at hand this time, with some serious explaining to do.
