6 DIFFERENT TYPES OF PANS

Buying pans is always a confusing task because there are so many choices and picking the right one according to your need is difficult. To make this easier the first thing what you should do is to determine what kind of cooking you want to do. Based on this you can buy the right product you need.

Here is a guide for you so that next time when you go to purchase pans, you don’t get confuse. Take a look!

FRYING PAN/SKILLET-

A frying pan or skillet is a flat-bottomed pan with slant sides, basically used for frying foods. These are mostly made of aluminium and stainless steel and some come with a coating applied on it to make it non-stick.

CAST IRON PAN-

The benefit of using cast iron skillet is that it gets hot fast and stays hot for a longer time. It is used for stir-fries and sear foods such as, meat.

SAUTÉ PAN-

A sauté pan is flat-bottomed pan with straight sides and larger surface area. As the name suggests, it is good for frying food while moving it around quickly in the pan. Other than this it is used for deep-frying, searing and prepare certain sauces.

BRAISER PAN-

Braiser pans are wide, flat-bottomed with moisture-locking lid. Its qualities make it a multitasker as it can be used for frying, sauté and can also be used as a casserole pan.

GRIDDLE/GRILL PAN-

Griddle pans have a large, flat or ridged surface. They can be square or round in shape. However, with the use of small amount of oil only, it can be used to cook breakfast foods such as, pancakes, eggs etc.

WOK-
wok

Woks are round-bottom cooking vessel. These have a hot cooking surface at the bottom and are perfect for stir-frying, deep-frying and steaming.
